Jose Pacheco Botelho, age 93, of Bristol, RI, passed away on February 7, 2026. He was born on February 8, 1933, in Sao Jose Parish, Ponta Delgada District on the island of Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal.
He will be remembered for his incredible work ethic and being a master carpenter with a reputation second to none, building thousands of homes and pieces of furniture that will stand for generations to come. In addition, his propensity for unfiltered truth by offering contrary positions to popular opinion will be cherished. He loved all children, music, dancing, worldwide travel, and his precious vanilla-filled cookies, but most of all his enduring love & dedication to support family & friends in a time of need.
He is survived by his former wife Marlene Botelho; his 3 children: Mary Lopez, Joseph Botelho, Jr., and Robert Botelho; his 7 grandchildren: Shana Lopez, Taylor Wood, Brad Lopez Jr, Joseph J. Botelho, Kasey Botelho, Corey Joy, and Grace Botelho; and 4 great-grandchildren: Quinn Wood, Camden Wood, Micheal Botelho and Callen Wilkens.
He is pre-deceased by his parents Maria Augusta de Medeiros & Jose Pacheco Botelho; his 3 sisters: Maria Helena Botelho, Conceição Botelho, and Maria Botelho; and brothers: Joaquim Pacheco Botelho, Jose Botelho, Antonio Medeiros Botelho, Joao Botelho and Manuel Botelho.
Calling hours are scheduled on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High Street, Bristol, RI, from 8:00 – 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol, RI, at 10:00am with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Chestnut Street in Bristol.
